January 2 – Salt

Good Morning

My ponderings from Sunday Morning’s message.

The text – Leviticus 2:13
And every oblation of thy meat offering
shalt thou season with salt;
neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God
to be lacking from thy meat offering:
with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.

Meat Offering consisted of minchah;
minchah is explained . . . to be an offering of fine flour, with oil and frankincense.
It was in general a eucharistic or gratitude offering . . .Clarke’s Commentary

With every gratitude offering offer  SALT  —
worship, praise, submission/yielding to God’s will
and the sacrifice of my own will to His.

The salt of the covenant is the part that makes the covenant real,
valid and worthy to be adhered to and honored.

Dear Lord, May my offering to you today and each day of the coming new yearbe salty in your eyes. Amen.

As I felt my need of God’s help, I thought of this  song,

Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When my way grows drear
Precious Lord linger near
When my life is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When the darkness appears
And the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

Thomas Dorsey(1899–1993) wrote “Precious Lord” in response to his inconsolable bereavement at the death of his wife, Nettie Harper, in childbirth, and his infant son in August 1932 (Wikipedia)

Trust God for your saltiness . . . Today
With my prayers, desiring yours, Leslie

Next week I’ll be upgrading the allotted memory usage of my blog, then I’ll be able to add pictures again.
