Yarn Along – A Filled Jar

yarnalong_gsheller_gray
On Wednesday’s knitters go to Ginny’s to share all the wonderful projects being worked on, finished, frogged, cried over, and learned from. They also tell what they are reading and a little of the storyline or provoking thoughts. I think it is great. So many books, knitting ideas and hints on how to make knitting more enjoyable.

Very little knitting has been done; I was embroidering pillowcases for our three married children.  No pictures, they turned out pretty (I thought) and I added beads for a little bling.

jan8 001This is my year’s worth of ‘ends’ mostly yarn
with some embroidery thread as a topper.

I’m reading, not listening to, a book of Sherlock Holmes mysteries. I’m enjoying it more than I thought. I don’t really try to figure out the problems – I like being surprised.

Joining Ginny, and many other knitters.

  1. thanks for stopping by!
I love the ends jar – such a great decoration as well a wonderful place to store all those little ends.
too bad there were no pictures of the pillowcases, I love embellisments.

    • Now I have to find a place to put the ‘ends’ for the birds and begin to fill another jar full.

  2. I read The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes last winter and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I really like your jar full of “year’s ends”–great idea! (Your tabby cute is so cute peeking out from behind the poinsettia.)

    • Now I have to find a place to put the ‘ends’ for the birds and their nests; then I’ll have a jar to fill again.

  3. I’m so glad I saw your jar of yarn ends right at the beginning of the year! Now I can get a mason jar out of the cabinet and start my own jar of ends. I wonder how fast it will fill??

    • It is fun to watch it fill. Now I have to find a place to put the ‘ends’ so the birds can make cozy nests

  4. I love reading Holmes like that too! 🙂

    • Happy New Year, Friend.

  5. I just started this year with saving yarn ends for the birdsnests. I’m so curious to see if they like some colorful deco for their homes!

    • I didn’t know personally, but have read about finding bits of stuff in their nests.

  6. I love to embroider, pillowcases especially, too. What a special gift for your married children.
I’ve never read Sherlock Holmes. You have stirred an interest.

    • I thought the stories would be harder to read, but they’re not. I actually had to snicker a few times at Holmes and Watson’s interactions.

  7. Would have loved to see those embroidered pillows. Love that ends jar. I never thought to do that. Thanks for visiting my blog. My son lives at Stanford University where he is studying for a PhD in Chemistry. We hope to visit him in March. I like your idea for mounting your doilies.
