Today’s thought – The Name and Fame of Jesus

july 15, pics from Gma c 025One 72-foot row of okra, next a 72-foot row of cucumbers,
when the Farmer gardens; he really gardens!

Good Morning

Acts 4:12
“There is salvation in no other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved”

There is only one name that opens heaven’s doors
and God’s heart—the name of Jesus.
There is only one name that breaks the power of sin
and sets the captive free—the name of Jesus.
There is only one name worthy of all praise,
and deserving of your allegiance—the name of Jesus.

Early on in His public ministry
the name and fame of Jesus spread
like a prairie fire on a windy day.
People all throughout the region—rich and poor,
king and commoner, Jew and Gentile—all heard of Him;
for His fame was ever-increasing.

His death on the Cross did not have the effect
the rulers of the day had hoped.
He rose from the dead
and His followers became invincible in their faith—
so much in fact that in ever-widening circles
the number of disciples increased vastly in Jerusalem;
and many of the Jewish priests were themselves converted as well.

Paul the Apostle, a few years later wrote,
“Finally, dear brothers, as I come to the end of this letter,
I ask you to pray for us.
Pray first that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly
and triumph wherever it goes,
winning converts everywhere as it did when it came to you”
(2 Thessalonians 3:1, Living Bible).

Jesus Christ!
He is peerless in His exaltation,
unrivaled in His Lordship,
incomparable in His grace,
invincible in His power,
unassisted in His work as Redeemer,
matchless in His mercy,
adored in His glory
and worshipped in the beauty of His holiness.

In His birth is our significance.
In His life is our example.
In His death is our forgiveness.
In His resurrection is our hope.
In His Second Coming is our consummate glory!

Isaiah spoke for us all when he said,
“Lord, Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts”
(Isaiah 28:8, NIV).

Friends, we live in a fallen world
where hostilities toward God run high and hot.
For this reason we must become men and women
of vision, passion, discipline and risk—laying ourselves out
for the high honor of one Name alone…
the name of Jesus.

Today’s thought – Have Faith and See God

june30 veggiesSee what the Farmer picked this morning . . .
along with 4 five gallon buckets of a variety of cucumbers!

Good Morning

Numbers 13:17, 25, 27-31, 33
17 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, . . .
25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
33 And there we saw the giants,

Yes, they saw the giants, but Caleb and Joshua saw God!
Those who doubt say, “We be not able to go up.”
Those who believe say, “Let us go up at once and possess it,
for we are well able.”

Giants stand for great difficulties;
and giants are stalking everywhere.
They are in our families, in our churches,
in our social life, in our own hearts;
and we must overcome them or they will eat us up,
as these men of old said of the giants of Canaan.

The men of faith said,
“They are bread for us; we will eat them up.”
In other words, “We will be stronger by overcoming them than if there had been no giants to overcome.”

. . . Let us have the spirit of faith that these men of faith had, and see God, and He will take care of the difficulties. Selected.

See God . . .Today

Today’s thought – . . . But as Thou Wilt

apr14 002the Farmer has radishes to pick and eat!

Good Morning

Matthew 26:36-39 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Choose but the will of God,
and thou willest His wisdom,
with His all-perfect choice;
thou enterest inot His counsels;
thou lovest with His love.
Be this our watch-word, brethren,
for the Church,
for those we love,
for our own souls.
Be this our rule in action,
“not what I, but what Thou”;
this, in suffering;
“not what I, but what Thou”.
This shall hallow our hopes;
this shall hush our fears;
this shall ward off disquiet;
this shall preserve our peace;
this shall calm anxieties,
this (if so it must be) shall soothe our heart-aches;
this shall give repose to our weariness;
this, the deeper our trouble,
shall be the deeper foretaste of everlasting peace and rest.
“Lord, not what I will, but what thou”:
not what I, in my misery,
and ignorance, and blindness, and . . .,
but what Thou, in Thy mercy,
and holiness and wisdom and love.

April 1, Today’s Thought – Mould Us

apr1Between showers on this rainy day, the Farmer watches over his gardens.

Good Morning

2 Timothy 2:21b . . . he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

Mould us, great God,
into forms of beauty and usefulness
by the wheel of Providence
and by the touch of Thy hand.
Fulfil Thine ideal,
and conform us to the image of Thy Son.
In Thy great house may we stand
as vessels meet for Thy use.
We are little better than common earthenware,
but may we be cleansed,
and purified,
and filled with Thy heavenly treasure.
Dip us deep into the River of Life,
and give refreshment by us
to many parched and weary hearts.
F. B. Meyer

2 Timothy 2:20-21 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also [utensils] of wood and earthenware, and some for honorable and noble [use] and some for menial and ignoble [use]. 21 So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work. March 18, Today’s thought – Perseverance

mar18 001the Farmer’s first step – tilling under the winder’s growth – volunteer sunflowers and weeds

Good Morning

2Corinthians 4:16-18
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

A woman planted a rare rosebush, fussed over it, fertilized it, watered it, and was incredibly disappointed when she saw no reward of her labors. The rose bush simply wouldn’t grow.

Then one day she visited her neighbor and discovered that shoots from this bush had pushed through to the other side of the fence and were blooming in splendid beauty there. She thought to herself of some recent disappointments in her prayer life and realized that faith in God is much like her rose bush. You can’t always see the results of what God is doing in your life, but if you have patience and perseverance, you will discover that He was creating something beautiful in you all along.

Hope requires perseverance. The rewards found inside us and that await us in heaven are worth any struggles we face here on earth.
from – A Daybook of Grace

2 Corinthians 4:16-18   So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.Amplified Bible
