Waiting, A Two-Way Street

Isaiah 30:15, 18
For thus saith the Lord GOD,
the Holy One of Israel;
In returning and rest shall ye be saved;
in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:
and ye would not.

stubborn-child

How many times has the Lord tried to direct me: and I would not.
His Voice so gentle, not loud and demanding,
but reasoning: and I would not.
His Words so confident and sure: and I would not.
His Words so reliable: yet I doubted and would not.
He would ask for such a little step of action,
something He knew and I knew I could do: and I would not.

v.18 And therefore will the LORD wait,
that he may be gracious unto you,
nd therefore will he be exalted,
that he may have mercy upon you:
for the LORD is a God of judgment:
blessed are all they that wait for him.

The time would come after He waited:
I would sigh the acceptance sigh, ‘Not my will’.
I would sigh the surrender sigh,
after holding on so tightly, ‘Not my will’.
I would sigh the committed sigh, ‘Thy Will be done’.
Did God rail on me for my slowness,
my subborness,
my lack of faith?
No but as He did for Job: He did for me.
Will he plead against me with his great power?
No; but he would put strength in me.
Job 23:6
And bless me with His Strength to follow in His Steps.

Yes, many times I wait on God.
I can wait because I have learned by His Example
how to wait, for He waits on me.

May God bless our waiting.

Guided Steps

nov23 010

Psalm 37:23-24
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD:
and he delighteth in his way.
Though he fall,
he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

You may be trying to go faster than He is moving. Wait till He comes up and then the way will no longer lie in darkness. He has left footprints for us to follow.

Make no footprints of thine own!

Not so in haste, my heart!
Have faith in God and wait:
Although He linger long
He never comes too late.

Until He cometh, rest
Nor grudge the hours that roll,
The feet that wait for God
Are soonest at the goal

Are soonest at the goal
That is not gained by speed
Then hold thee still, my heart
For I shall wait His lead.

August 16, Today’s thought — The Grace of Waiting

the Farmer is putting up a rod to hang bird feeders and a hummingbird bottle.

All done, now to get some red hummingbird food.

Good Morning

Psalm 27:14
Wait on the LORD:
be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait,
I say,
on the LORD.

We must learn to wait.
When we do not know what to do we must simply do nothing.
Wait till the fog clears away.
Do not force a half-open door;
a closed door may be p;providential.
Ability to hold steady under pressure gives God unlimited sway.
A hurried spirit is always from beneath (and out of breath).
“He that believeth shall not make haste.” Isaiah 28:16

There is grace supplied for the one who waits.
The psalmist knew this secret.
He experienced this grace.
“I wait for the Lord,” he declared in Psalm130:5.
Waiting is a great part of life’s discipline and therefore God often exercises the grace of waiting in the anxious hurrying person.
“Waiting has four purposes,” says Dr. James Vaughan.
“It practices the patience of faith.
It gives time for preparation for the coming gift.
It makes the blessing the sweeter when it arrives.
It shows the sovereignty of God–to give just when and as He pleases.’

Trust God for your day . . .Today
With my prayers, desiring yours, Leslie
