This is Believing

What is it thou wouldst have done, that He cannot do if He think it fit?

And if He think it not fit, if thou art one of His children, thou wilt think with Him; thou wilt reverence His wisdom, and rest satisfied with His will.

This is believing indeed; the rolling all our desires and burdens over upon an almighty God; and where this is, it cannot choose but establish the heart in the midst of troubles, and give it a calm within in the midst of the greatest storms.    Robert Leighton

Mark 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

What Am I Looking For?

We see always what we are looking for, and if our mind has become trained to look for trouble and difficulty and all dark and dreary things, we find just what we seek. On the other hand, it is quite ans easy to form the habit of looking always for beauty, for good, for happiness, for gladness, and here, too, we shall find precisely what we seek. J. R. Miller

Psalms 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life:

in thy light shall we see light.

I love that last phrase: in God’s light we shall see more light.

Velma’s 97th Birthday

Saturday, January 16, Velma Crain’s family met with her in Redding for lunch to celebrate her 97th birthday. Elmer, Mary, Emily, Melanie and I arrived at Velma’s (Elmer’s mother) about 12:00pm. Mary and Emily hadn’t been at Velma’s for some years, so I was able to give a tour of the home, the yard with about a half acre of planted gardens. Showing them the shed with our inheritance safe inside, different flower areas (bulbs, cut flowers, propagation pots), vegetable garden plot with fencing (deer out or veggies in), the potting shed and how the watering was done. Aaron and his family arrived about 12:30. So we did a repeat tour. Alyce found use for a shed in their yard after seeing Grandma’s. We then left to meet the rest of the family at the Redding Airport for a Chinese lunch. There were about 40 attending. Velma’s brother, Leonard, 4 of her children and their spouses, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a nephew with spouse and their grandchild, Sam, Barbara and several Garden Club friends. We had plenty of food, a delicious cake, much laughter and merriment. A very typical Crain get-together. We arrived home about 5:30pm, thankful for family and a safe trip.

How to Ask

Live your questions, then ask and become open to the changes that the answers will inevitably bring.

Ask for what you need and want
Ask to be taught the right questions
Ask to be answered
Ask for the divine plan of your life to unfold through joy
Ask politely
Ask with passion
Ask with a grateful heart and you will be heard.

1John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

Order, the Foundation

Evening Tidbit

Begin to think of order not as a strait-jacket of “should” (make the bed, wash the dishes, take out the garbage) but as a shape–the foundation–for the beautiful life you are creating. Sarah Ban Breathnach

Preparation God’s Way

What God may hereafter require of you, you must not give yourself the least trouble about. Everything He gives yo to do , you must do as well as ever you can, and that is the best possible preparation for what He may want you to do next. If people would but do what they have to do, they would always find themselves ready for what came next. George Macdonald

Avoiding trouble

Evening tidbit

To avoid trouble, breathe through your nose. It keeps your mouth shut.

Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise:
and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Proverbs 17:28

Hope defined…

Hope is not a granted wish or a favor performed; it is far greater than that. It is a zany, unpredictable dependence on a God who loves to surprise us out of our socks.

I am thankful for HOPE.
