Ready? I Am Not

dec

Tomorrow is December 1st
Can you believe it?
It comes the same time every year.
Ready? I am not.

Waiting is my theme this month.
Little children (that does include many of us)
wait for this time of year since last December.
Others of us just wait until it is over, again.

While we are waiting . . .
I’ll post some poems, songs, meditations to ponder
Where ever you fit on the waiting scale.

Christmas led to the Cross,
and on both days Jesus accomplished
what on one else could.
~~Louie Giglio

Philippians 2:5-11 NIV
In your relationships with one another,
have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

May God bless our waiting.

Don’t Neglect the Trifles

imageshands

2 Chronicles 29:11
My sons, be not now negligent:
for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before Him,
to serve Him,
and that ye should minister unto him,
and burn incense.

There are many things that appear trifles,
which greatly tend to enervate the soul,
and hinder its progress in the path to virtue and glory.
The habit of indulging in things
which our judgment cannot thoroughly approve,
grows stronger and stronger
by every act of self-gratification,
and we are led on by degrees to an excess of luxury
which must greatly weaken our hands in the spiritual warfare.
If we do not endeavor to do that which is right
in every particular circumstance,
though trifling,
we shall be in great danger of letting the same negligence
take place in matters more essential.
MARGARET WOODS.

enervate – cause to feel drained of energy or vitality; weaken.

Hebrews 2:1-3
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed
to the things which we have heard,
lest at any time we should let them slip.
For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast,
and every transgression and disobedience
received a just recompence of reward;
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation;
which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,
and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Being Christ’s Disciple

joy

If you want Joy be a disciple of Christ

What does it look like to be a disciple of Christ?

Romans 12:9-21 shows us
Let love be without dissimulation.
Abhor that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good.
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;
in honour preferring one another;
Not slothful in business;
fervent in spirit;
serving the Lord;
Rejoicing in hope;
patient in tribulation;
continuing instant in prayer;
Distributing to the necessity of saints;
given to hospitality.
Bless them which persecute you:
bless, and curse not.
Rejoice with them that do rejoice,
and weep with them that weep.
Be of the same mind one toward another.
Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate.
Be not wise in your own conceits.
Recompense to no man evil for evil.
Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
If it be possible,
as much as lieth in you,
live peaceably with all men.
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves,
but rather give place unto wrath:
for it is written,
Vengeance is mine;
I will repay, saith the Lord.
Therefore if thine enemy hunger,
feed him;
if he thirst,
give him drink:
for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Be not overcome of evil,
but overcome evil with good.

Christ’s disciple puts others needs before their own desires.

John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give unto you,
That ye love one another;
as I have loved you,
that ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know
that ye are my disciples,
if ye have love one to another.

Eye Candy Friday

Daylight Savings time means days are shorter.
Daylight Savings time means days get dark early.
Daylight Savings time means my love of candles shines bright.

My Prayer Today

I’ve heard/read about people writing out their prayers.
“How interesting.” I would think.
I’ve listed prayer requests.
I’ve made gratitude lists.
Many times I have written down the Word of God.

A written prayer is a first for me.
It is not deep or poetic,
but heart felt.

Dear God,

For this day, I thank Thee,
for the goodmess that you have prepared for me
and for the rough places we must go through.

May I be thanful for all of my day.
Grant the grace and the oil of your Spirit
to smoooth and ease the rough places.’

May your banner of love over me be seen
your compassion, your kindness, your peace.

There will be many times
I’ll cry out to you this day –
please attend to my cry
There will be times I should be asking
for your help and yet,
I’ll be so caught up in the circumstances;
I’ll try to handle it all on my own.
Please, know I still need your help.

Your people are hurting, today
in their minds,
in their hearts,
in their bodies
please minister to these needs.
Comfort the grieving ones,
the tired, the weary, the struggling
and the ones who are still learning to walk by faith.
May we not forget that with you
‘ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE’.

For my family –
my husband, my mom, my children near,
my grandshildren, wherever they are.
Those on my list – close to my heart.
Help them to make right choices before you.
Help them to desire to put you first in their hearts.
Help that seed of faith, so small at times,
to never be extinquished.

For my daily duties today
I ask for strength and
to do them as for you
even though they are the same things
done over and over
May I take comfort in the sameness
in the constantness
in your continual supply.

Help me look at the many things you provide
with a thankful heart
for as I think will be the way that I am this day.

My meditation scripture today.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise,
think on these things.

In Jesus’name
Amen

A Late Five Minute Friday – Common

Joining with Kate at Heading Home

For five minutes of free writing.
“This is meant to be a free write, which means:
no editing, no over-thinking,
no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation.
Just write.”

Finally thoughts began to jell

Today’s Prompt – Common

go

Where have all the friends gone?
For years we have clicked and friended
person after person.

All we knew was that we both liked
flowers and hearts
kittens and puppies
sunsets and oceans
reciptes and knitting patters
kids that do funny things
old people still in love
moms trying really hard to be good moms.

Once in a while we would find
they liked “___________________”
and we would think “OH!”
and pass on.

Now we have found our friends deepest and darkest secrets.
Has this changed the common ground
we built our firendship upon?
Does this mean we are no longer freindly?

A definition of common
adjective,
1.belonging equally to, or shared alike by, two or more or all in question:

Can we agree on one more thing?

Two weeks ago
our country needed prayer and to turn our hearts toward God.
That has not changed.
Let us add to our prayer now.
Lord, help our friendships to stay strong.

suzy-hands

Matthew 18:19-20
Again I say unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth
as touching any thing that they shall ask,
it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them.

stop

Thank you, Suzy, for your dear picture.

Sunday Bible Reading – Isaiah 26:1-4

marlyn-tree

Song of Trust in God’s Protection

In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah:

“We have a strong city;
[the Lord] sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks.

“Open the gates, that the [uncompromisingly] righteous nation
which keeps her faith and her troth [with God] may enter in.

“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace
whose mind [both its inclination and its character]
is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You,
leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

“So trust in the Lord
(commit yourself to Him,
lean on Him,
hope confidently in Him) forever;
for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock
[the Rock of Ages].”

A Fall Memory

October, 1969,
I had been very sick for 1 1/2 years
and I was being released from the hospital
after a 6 week stay and major surgery.
Out the doors into
cool fresh air,
blazing color
and a grateful heart.
I was alive.

I’m joining with Carole and friends.
