Why

GO

Why is an automatic response.
A young child continually asks, “WHY?”
He doesn’t really want or understand
the elaborate explanation we give over and over
until we finally tire and say,
“Because I said so!”

So we are as a child,
when meet we something we don’t understand —
WHY?
Not because we are unbelieving.
Not even because we want an elaborate answer.
But because we need our Father’s attention.
We need to know we are not alone.
We need to know  are cared for and
we can trust the one who is holding our hands.

Until we hear those reassuring words,
“Because I said so, my child.”

stop

“For God Himself has said,
I will not in any way fail you
nor give you up
nor leave you without support.
I will not,
I will not,
I will not in any degree leave you
helpless nor forsake nor let you down;
nor relax My hold on you!
Assuredly not!”

  1. Hmm, I’m not sure that children don’t actually want an explanation when they as ‘why?’ although I do think their question does become a game at times. But I so agree that what we all need most is to know that we are loved and not alone and in God’s safe hands. Bless you.

  2. I love the illustration of a child asking why. It made me think of us as young believers. We are really young children who ask God why. A lot. Perhaps the more we grow in him the less often we ask why. I think it’s because we learn more about who God is and his character. We trust more. We know He has our back, even when we don’t understand. Nice to come across your writings. Blessings fellow FMF writer.

  3. I was blessed by your WHY writing. So well done and a meaningful point. May I quote you with credit in one of my posts on THE REST OF THE WAY?

    • Yes, you may, I;m flattered, thank you

  4. Leslie, I love the illustration of God telling us “because I said so”! Thank you for sharing! Cindy Wilkins #fmf
