Spider Lilies make me smile.
John 16:23-24
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing.
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name,
he will give it you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name:
ask, and ye shall receive,
that your joy may be full.
What a promise available to God’s people today!
ASK.
Do you see there are no qualifiers,
no limits,
no restraints?
Just ASK.
Do you see why Christ wants us to ask?
So we may be full of Joy.
Joy – a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.
Do you need joy today?
ASK
BELIEVE with your ‘little mustard seed’ faith
WAIT, for God’s perfect timing
See, already, you feel a little joy with just hope in the promise.
Clarke’s Commentary tells me:
John 16:24
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name – Ye have not as yet considered me the great Mediator between God and man; but this is one of the truths which shall be more fully revealed to you by the Holy Spirit.
Ask – In my name; and ye shall receive – all the salvation ye thus request; the consequence of which shall be that your joy shall be full – ye shall be thoroughly happy in being made completely holy.
Sunday Bible Reading, Malachi 4:2
Malachi 4:2
But unto you that fear my name
shall the Sun of righteousness
arise with healing in his wings;
and ye shall go forth,
and grow up as calves of the stall.
Every need supplied,
cleansing,
healing,
sweet peace inside.
Every need supplied.
With healing in his wings –
As the sun,
by the rays of light and heat,
revives, cheers,
and fructifies the whole creation,
giving, through God,
light and life everywhere;
so Jesus Christ,
by the influences of his grace and Spirit,
shall quicken, awaken, enlighten,
warm, invigorate, heal, purify,
and refine every soul that believes in him,
and, by his wings or rays,
diffuse these blessings
from one end of heaven to another;
everywhere invigorating
the seeds of righteousness,
and withering and drying up the seeds of sin.
The rays of this Sun are the truths of his Gospel,
and the influences of his Spirit.
