End of the Month

Most months’ end I look back and say what have I accomplished this month; besides the normal dishes, laundry, shopping, meals, cleaning. Many times I am disappointed because I can’t remember much of anything.
This Month was different. With Topper’s get-together coming up, I really wanted to finish 3 quilts. So far, two are completely done and it is not even July 31.
I have also made five quilt tops, that have been on my not-written-down to-do list. AND I cleaned out the hall linen cupboard. Now how about that? I think I a deserve at least a “Way to go”.

PS 7/2 I remembered I made matching pillowcases for three of the quilts.

Volunteering

I passed my TB test and the background check (I wasn’t too worried). So I start volunteering at the Sacramento Children’s Home -Crisis Nursery next Friday evening, July 10th. I am looking forward to this new “adventure”. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time and the time has finally come.

MEXICO!

Sounds like a good idea…So I will start.

I just got back last night from Mexico. A group of the young people went down to help the saints for a week. It was a good trip, we were able to get a lot done and have tons of fun. But more than all the fun and laughter, I was impressed by the contentment of the saints. They have so little and yet they are happy. No they don’t sit and do nothing about their situation, they are busy in their lives doing their best, but it appears that there is not a need for all the extra stuff that we deem necessary. They are content and can live with the bare necessities.

It challanged me, to be content with what I have and not expect or demand those things that are just comforts. No I don’t have to change my living condition or sell off everything that I have, but I don’t have to always the very best and most comfortable surroundings to be content and happy.

It is good to be back home, but I will go back to visit. The saints are sweet and very welcoming and their beaches are wonderful. :-}

Family blog?

Margaret gave me a crash course in blog terminolgy today. My brain is a bit fuzzy; but I hope the set-up becomes clearer.
I was thinking we could use this as a family bullitin board: what you’re doing, info we should know, greetings, thoughts and encouragements.
Let’s talk (write), if you’d like to try.

Beginnings

I begin this blog with a prayer:

Dear Lord and Father of Mankind
Drop Thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease,
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of Thy peace.

John G. Whittier

And a scripture:

Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee. KJV

Trust God for your day, Today
