“Peace, be still.”

Blessed quietness, Holy quietness
Blest assurance in my soul.
On the stormy sea, He speaks peace to me,
And the billows cease to roll.

When Jesus was on the boat with His disciples in the storm, they wondered “Carest thou not that we perish?!” Jesus spoke “Peace, be still.”
I’m looking for that same still in our storms

Job=data entry

Now is the time to step up to the plate for ELMERS. We have to change back to Quickbooks, new program isn’t working out. My job is data entry from April to present. Yesterday  was about 13 hours and today started about 7:30. I may not have alot of time to post fun things here, but I keep thinking about what I would like to say.

Prepare the Ground

Ecclesiastes  3:1-2  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

“If it is true that one of the greatest pleasures of gardening lies in looking forward, then the planning of next year’s beds and borders must be one of the most agreeable occupations in the gardener’s calendar.  This should make October and November particularly pleasant months, for then we may begin to clear our borders, to cut down those sodden and untidy stalks, to dig up and increase our plants, and to move them to other positions where they will show up to greater effect.  People who are not gardeners always say that the bare beds of winter are uninteresting; gardeners know better, and take even a certain pleasure in the neatness of the newly dug, bare, brown earth.”
–   Vita Sackville-West

In all the seasons of life there are times of needing to be prepared. After a bountiful summer, comes the time of clearing  the spent vines and plants; a time of rest and restoration. A time for considering what was successful, what could be improved, and what should be let go. May our hearts be open to God’s preparation, so we may be continurally fruitful for Him.

Luke 8:15  But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Great or Small Mind?

My home, My refuge

Please enter your thankfuls in the comments.

A well run home is a microcosm of sanity in a world that is plainly mad. If a home doesn’t make sense, nothing does. Henrietta Ripperger

My home is not always well run, but it surely is my refuge. It always welcomes me back.

Are My Bags Packed Yet

It’s 12:20 pst, I’m supposed to get up in three hours and forty minutes and I still wondering about my packing. Do I have too much?What is too much? Have I forgotten something I really want/need? Will all three suitcases be over the weight limit? How much time will I read? How much time will I knit? I have to sleep sometime. I think I need to start all over with at least two of the suitcases, but will the third one feel left out, like I don’t really care about it or something.
As you can see, I’m much too tired and am probably making way too much about the whole thing. Margaret, will you come and pack for me?
(She has it down to a science.)
I am really excited about this trip. but it’s been along time since Elmer & I traveled with anyone. Will I be too close to the others or too aloof? I hope they understand I’m use to most of my waking hours being by myself . I wish I knew how to take pictures and down load them to the computer myself and I would show you what a mess I’m in, and then you could offer suggestions. But by the time Elmer gets up, I’ll have to be done. So I’m just going to shut my eyes, toss in everything and be done with it. Wish me luck. I’ll write tomorrow from somewhere other than Carmichael.

An Earthen Vessel

What can I do to insure victory; to have assurance that I can have my vessel full for the Lord; how can I keep from being a leaking vessel? I know there is a difference between a leaking vessel and a broken vessel.

Lord, I want my will to be broken, to so be at one with thine own that there would be no way to tell the two wills apart.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. II Corinthians 4:7-10

However, we possess this precious treasure (the divine Light of the Gospel)in (frail, human) vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may  be shown to be from God and not from ourselves. We are hedged in (pressed) on every side (troubled and oppressed in every way), but not cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way out, but not driven to despair; We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted (to stand alone); we are struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed; always carrying about in the body the liability and exposure to the same putting to death that the Lord Jesus suffered, so that the (resurrection) life of Jesus also may be shown forth by and in our bodies. The Amplified Bible

I will remember that this earthen vessel can manifest the life of Christ.

Continuous Caring Vessel

And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, …   Hebrews 10:11
Furthermore, every (human) priest stands (at his altar of service) ministering daily, offering the same sacrifices over and over again,…  Amplified Bible.

I was reading in Hebrews 10 and came across verse 11 stating that every human priest, that’s me according to 2 Peter 2:9: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, (God’s) own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.  Amplified Bible

Christ’s priest or a vessel should  always “set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him”. The verse goes on to say that the priest stands daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices. In the Old Testament the priests did do the same caring duties for the temple day after day, and the same physical sacrifices were offered.  That tells me that I shouldn’t be surprised to find myself doing the same duties over and over, giving the same care over and over, even washing the same clothes, dishes, etc, over and over, because that is what my job is today, because that is what my owner has for me to do.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works;
Hebrews 10:22-24
And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care* to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities. Hebrews 10:24  Amplified Bible

May I ever have in my vessel what is needed as I stand at my altar of service.
