If you send a quilter/knitter to Grandma’s. . .

she’ll have to take a sewing machine, (she has done this before)

an iron, pressing mat, rotary cutter, scissors a cutting mat
and a project over due that needs to be finished now.

She’ll also take 6 shawls in various stages of completion:
from almost there, finish ripping out the cast off and re-do with enough beads for finishing.

to just one more clue

to just two more clues

to where did I leave off on this one

to so I took this one off the needles to use for another project–now it’s on a lifeline, how do I rescue it.

to I think I’ll start this over
or not maybe just rip it out and use the yarn for ……..

this goes with me, ‘coz I can knit and I don’t have to think much,

(yep, it’s a Longerberger basket)

and a sweater to try to learn how to knit the both sleeves at one time on one long circular needle,

thinking she will get at least 3 shawls finished.

WAIT!! the quilter/knitter will only be at Grandma’s for 5 days, and there are meals to cook and the flower garden to water, and naps to take. . . . . . . . .

Joining Ginny and all the other stay at home knitters this week.

Yarn Along with a Pair of Pliers

“~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading,” Ginny, hostess of Yarn Along. I enjoy adding my little bit to this blog, mostly I love seeing all the different projects being knitted so beautifully it’s inspiring. It also adds to my library in Ravelry and my want list of yarns.

This week Summery Solstice was my knitting project. I finished Clue D. I added more beads, being inspired by other knitters’ pictures, but thought I had over done it. So I found the Farmers pliers, and removed 5 beads from each repeat (19). I have bead remnants on the deck, but I like the beading better. I split yarn on one removal, but was able to fix it.

I am knitting another shawl of the same pattern, I started Clue C yesterday. This yarn is waiting for its opportunity to become part of that shawl, Ivory Silky Solstice.

Wendy Knits’ mystery KAL has been fun. I’ve learned from watching others knit their shawls.  And I know these two projects will get finished, probably next week when I go care for MIL with little to distract me from knitting.

I’ve been listening to ‘Ice Cold’ by Tess Gerritson.

Yarn Along — KAL

Kinetik Mystery KAL  —  you can find the KAL here

I have never done a Knit-A-Long or any mystery knitting.

Babetta at Babetta’s Yarn and Gifts  my favorite yarn posted on FB that she was joining and my daughter, Mary, at Hopeful Days , said she was joining; so I thought why not I only have a few projects going I can do another.

So I went to the Stash Hotel and found Shadow from Knit Picks waiting for me. Shadow is 100% merino wool, by the name of Lost Lake Heather. The project called for sock weight, Shadow is lace weight, so I’ll knit it double.

Shadow is on the swift.

Identifying paperwork

From Swift to ball winder

All wound up. See the ends only about an inch or in difference so it would up very evenly.

Did I mention beads. I bought the beads from U Bead It, in Sacramento, CA, 30 grams for 2.60, 8/0 Smokey topaz.

All ready to start, January 23

Better light, better color

After all afternoon of the 23rd and not getting the project sample completed, knit…rip…knit…rip…on and on.

My problem
a.  I haven’t lace with the pattern being knit in every row, I’ve knitted lace with a knit or purl row between pattern rows.
b. And this pattern requires a ‘p2tog tbl’ not an easy maneuver for me to do.

So I decided to work the pattern in a worsted weight yarn, so I could easier see and follow the stitches.

January 24 I knitted and ripped and knitted and ripped some more. My sample looked pretty until I came to the ‘ptog tbl’.  Then it looked nothing like the picture.

I have never been so challenged with knitting.

Today is a new day! I’m going to use addi Turbo lace  needles and the toast worsted and try again.

If I weren’t so frustrated, I’d be having FUN!

My audio book listening pleasure is the tried and true Pride and Prejudice, listened to it many times  — so it soothing background with I focus on ‘P2TOG TBL’.
